10 Things you Didn´t Know about Pearls

1.-From ancient times, the finest pearls were retrieved from oyster beds in the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea and the Gulf of Mannar, a shallow bay in the Indian Ocean.

7-La Peregrina, the” Pilgrim” is the most famous natural pearl in the world. It is a perfectly symmetrical pear shaped pearl found in the Gulf of Panama in the mid 16th. Richard Burton bought it for his wife Elisabeth Taylor´s 37th birthday for 37,000 dollars. It had been previously owned by Queen Isabella of Spain, Mary I of England, and during the 18th century, it belonged to the Bonaparte family. In 2011, it was sold in auction at Christie´s for 11,8 million dollars.
7.- La Peregrina es la perla más famosa del mundo. Es una perla en forma de pera perfectamente simétrica encontrada en el golfo de Panamá a mitad del siglo 16. Richard Burton la compró por 37,000 dólares para regalársela a su esposa Elisabeth Taylor en su 37 cumpleaños. Previamente perteneció a Isabel I de españa, María I de Inglaterra y durante el siglo 18 a la familia Bonaparte. En 2011 se vendió en una subasta de Christie´s por 11,8 millones de dólares.
