Buttons & Bows

Los Canos is a lovely small shop founded by Manuel Cano in 1925. It has survived the fortunes and changes of life without losing its charm. Within it lie many memories of a thousand childhoods in a cloud of paprika scent. The needles, threads and zipps intertwine with lace, silk and felt fabrics. There is always a chair waiting for you at the entrance in case you need to take the weight off your feet while you wait for your turn. The hustle of women telling stories is shaded by the light shining through the shop windows. And so life is unendlessly woven amongst buttons and bows.

  23. Wow, there are not so many shops like this left. It looks like a wonderland where you can find all kinds of things to make outfits perfect. It's a shame this kind of shops are disappearing everywhere. I am afraid there is nothing similar left close to me already. Lots of Love, xxxxxx

  29. I love these shops, you know what you are looking for... but not what you will find.

  41. Gorgeous shop, I wish more shops looked like this and carried the charm and spirit too. So wonderful, a magical little place to find treasures. I love it. I am a little ways from the place you will stay at here in Scotland, I will have to see what I'm doing in August as my husband usually takes time off too, haha. But, I am sure we will be somewhere, as it would be wonderful to see you and give you a great big hug!! And hopefully the weather will be sweet for us all. It's snowing today and oh so cold. Have a wonderful weekend my dear friend XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  42. What an amazing shop. Wonderful that it still has customers to sustain it too. Is there a culture of making one's owns clothes and sewing generally in Spain?

Years ago some friends and I went to New York. We stumbled upon this dusty old cavern of a shop run by a couple of very old Jewish brothers selling any kind of trim you can imagine, most of it ancient. Four of us had studied textiles at college and we were in seventh heaven, scooping up reel after reel. xxx
