The monastery of Guadalupe, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993, had its origins in the late 13th century when a shepherd from Cáceres, named Gil Cordero, discovered a small statue made of ebony on the banks of the Guadalupe River. On the site of his discovery a chapel was built dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Its architecture evolved throughout many centuries and styles: mudejar, gothic, baroque, plateresque.
The Conquerors of the New World: Hernán Cortés and Francisco Pizarro took this image to their hearts and with them to the new world.
As you can see I wore my Mexican virgen de Guadalupe t-shirt for this visit.
Splendida e sempre originale. Kiss
