Trousers- Skirts- Dresses
Trousers were the most liberating piece of clothing for women, trapped in corsets and heavy crinoline until the 20th century.
I am all for liberation and freedom of any sort, but I find it sad to see our streets taken over by pants and t-shirts. The item that freed us has become a comfortable uniformed prison .
Skirts and dresses make you think, compose, combine and create.
What do you think?

Besos!!!
I think any boring or basic clothing can be a prison- if you let it. I am guilty of this, as I don't go out much it's too easy to wear shorts and a t-shirt like a daggy uniform. I got sick of doing this, and I try to make myself wear better clothing more often now.xx.
ResponderEliminarHola!

ResponderEliminarI think you are right. I am resorting to trousers so much these days. I should definitely start wearing more skirts and dresses again! (It's difficult when you have to cycle everywhere!) Yours is so beautiful. I love the beautiful chiffon layers in the middle and how you matched your nailpolish to your shoes. Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments. They really really make my day!!!!! <3

Oh I live in trousers and jeans but tend to glam things up with a leopard print coat, silk blouse or some diamanté earrings. I call it casual glamour!
ResponderEliminarfirst of all, this is such a great post! very interesting. i rarely wear trousers, although i am aware of the fact that they are very cofortable. i prefer to sacrifice myself and put on dresses...
ResponderEliminaragain, you look absolutely gorgeous! what is your secret?!
I am definitely a skirts and dresses kinda girl, however I do like a good pair of shorts or a playsuit. Funnily enough if I wear a pair of trousers it will be to create a 1930's/40's look.
ResponderEliminarI agree with you I think a lot of people now associate trousers with comfort and are scared to branch away from them. We should all make more of an effort to experiment and bring back the glamour to our everyday outfits!
Oh my! The skirt is MAGNIFICENT! It's so true sometimes that our clothes find US. There is a pair of pink heels that I know is calling to me from a local thrift store and I've neglected to buy them. Monday will find me there taking those babies home.
ResponderEliminarCompletely agree on the pants issue!! It seems we've lost a sense of civility in our dressing. I can't remember the Old Hollywood movie star who wouldn't be caught dead in pants. And while I do like pants, skirts and dresses just make me feel more feminine and I know I carry myself a little more like a lady when I'm in one.
ResponderEliminarOh my! Those yellow boots are stunning, I want them!!!! You ALWAYS look beautiful, I am in awe of your way of dressing.
ResponderEliminarYou are so right about trousers, I rarely wear them. Some woman wear them and look feminine and fabulous but most wear them like a uniform and that is never good, dressing up should be fun.xxx

besos
Skirts, skirts, skirts is my mantra and I am trying to convince others my age I think it makes you look YOUNGER! Agree, in spades..
ResponderEliminarAnd did I tell you yellow (and all renditions of it) is my favorite color??? Love the boots and the nail polish! You go girl!!
awesome outfit! i like how you combined the feminine ruffled skirt with the jewel toned yellow shoes. and great vintage inspiration! =)

thank you for you kind comments :)
ResponderEliminarand what a gorgeous skirt!!!!
i have tons of pants, but am so much more comfy in skirts and leggings.
And forget about jeans!
they hurt me all over and are so constrictive!
xXx
Reva
ResponderEliminarUn beso!
I do prefer the look and feel of skirts and dresses over trousers. And I especially dislike wearing the "T-shirt and jean" uniform.
ResponderEliminarLove your outfit here, Sacramento. The cool color blocking (only not really color is it?) with the pop of yellow at the feet, so perfect! You really know how to play up textures and colors without over-doing it. Lovely to see!
Oh my goodness! Gold and tulle is fine, but it's the boots that made my eyes pop. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.
ResponderEliminarYes, of course, you're right about the trousers. Perhaps riding skirts should be resurrected.
ResponderEliminarWhat a great outfit!
ResponderEliminaryellow boots are the best. I have a pair, too, but very different.
ResponderEliminarI actually read your quote about pants and tee in Advanced Style and it inspired me to do the following post a few days ago: here
You look SMASHIN as always dear :)

Oh, I love this so much: your skirt, purse, ring and earrings are a dream, so beautiful. I think I didn’t wear a single pair of pants in the last two years so I kind of miss them. Dresses are my love though:)
ResponderEliminarYou look wonderful!
ResponderEliminarI agree, and it is in my interest too since I have a hard time finding pants that fit me.
I am tall with a small waist and wide hips so skirts are difficult as well, but I'm working on it. Definitely will take some creativity!
I love to see what you are wearing - so inspiring. The yellow boots, definitely a gift from the gods.
Kathy
My goodness you look utterly wonderful in your delicious tulle skirt - the whole ensemble is perfection my dear. Yes, skirts and dresses need thought - you have nailed it here though beautiful girl! I'm so glad the problem with my blog is sorted - I missed you too! xoxoxo

I must say that I love this post! You look so good in this outfit1 I'm a ruffles lover! The skirt is so nice! I like the combiantion of your nails and the shoes!
ResponderEliminarAnd I agree with you about the trousers, but sometimes is nice to combine them with a nice blouse. I think that skirts makes a female really feminine:)
XXXXX
wahoo I love that ! I agree with you, and I am not attracted by these basic uniforms that are so trendy, I prefer fantasy and creativity, like you do beautifully here, these boots are so gorgeous !

Fabulous skirt, fabulous ring, fabulous everything!
ResponderEliminarAs for pants, I almost never wear them. I find skirts much more comfortable and flattering. They also seem to suit my somewhat formal and dressy personality.
What a lovely inspiration collage, and your outfit so nicely evokes the metallics and lacy ruffles. I adore your pewter top and dramatic chandelier pearl earrings.
ResponderEliminarI, too, wish that skirts and dresses weren't so often considered "dress up" clothing. I do think I'll try to wear casual dresses more often, even for everyday life -- especially since I'm not nursing a baby anymore. That made dresses rather inconvenient.
Sou seguidora! Gracias
ResponderEliminaramazing skirt, jewelry, nails, purse... all of the outfit. love gold with that color scheme.

You look amazing!!! I love the way you accessorize. It seems like trousers are so "in" right now, too. I just wish they fit me better. It's so hard to find pants that fit me right. But I'm with you on the jeans and t-shirt thing. I agree. It has become a type of prison.
ResponderEliminari do love your eclectic style :-) it is so interesting to see style from years gone by

You are the coolest - the ring, the boots...they're fabulous! Hurray for yellow footwear - we don't see enough of it in my opinion.
ResponderEliminarHope you're well, lovely lady xx
Oh, I agree completely. Love skirts and dresses; I'm never out of them! Seriously, I only own one pair of jeans and one pair leggings...
ResponderEliminarGreat post, yellow is a colour that really suits you. Very cheerful! x

How could I have not commented on this post yet? I simply adore those marigold yellow boots. Fabulous! I'm so enjoying having you as a new visitor to my blog. I smile whenever I read your comments and can't wait to see what magnificent item you post next!
besicossss
My dear friend, I hope you are well. I haven't heard from you in the past couple of days. Lots of love, Vix xxx

ResponderEliminarY qeu buena reflexion. Yo me siento mas comoda con pantalones
Oh I just love the old photos, so inspirational! I am definately a trousers girl but I do have some skirts I love too. xx
ResponderEliminarI'm in LOVE with your ring!
ResponderEliminarUn bso
Im so agree with you and i have to say i like to see women dressed as women and men dressed as men. I never wear trousers always dresses even in the winter. dee xx
besos & faldas
Agree with you my dear friend! I like trousers but find dresses and skirts more feminine.

ResponderEliminarI love skirts and dresses! And i wear my clothes after wicth mood I am in.But when its time for for work I often put on jeans and a sweater- but try to do it witha "twist "
ResponderEliminarIt's a very nice and interesting post. Love skirts and dresses for a women.
ResponderEliminarThese pieces are so great.
Have a wonderful weekend.

You know how I feel about trousers ;) I wear mostly dresses and skirts because I love them. I will on occasion wear some shorts with stockings underneath - which almost looks as if I'm wearing a skirt sometimes, as they are usually to a vintage style. If you look at all the eras over the decades, people have become so lazy and un kept. We take no pride in our appearance, we don't care so much about ourselves. We think seeing someone in a dress, is dressing up or over the top, when back then, it was normal. And I'm all for liberation of women, but even when women wore trousers back then, they were the finest and they were still so dressed up, because it was polite to do so. People need should take more care, there is such a beautiful art in dressing, such a shame when it's wasted on jeans and tshirts. And no one can say they dress this way because they work or having children, because the women of that time got their families through war and hunger and everything else and still found time to dress themselves up nice! It's just laziness. Have a wonderful time away this weekend visiting your daughter :)) I'll miss you, but I'll have lots to share when I return :)) Lots of love doll XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
ResponderEliminaroh Whao! i love all pictures here, that maxi skirt is just gawjuss. great vintage inspirations here.

ResponderEliminarI LOVE to dress up, and I LOVE LOVE dresses!! Dylan's Dress -- obviously! I think fashion is making a comeback in this country -- high fashion, like the 30s and 40s, and even the younger generations seem to enjoy it! I love your boots in the previous post!
ResponderEliminarxoxo

love the photos. I've fallen into the jeans/t-shirt runt, too. I'm happy that I've rediscovered dresses. I still wear jeans, but try to wear a pretty top and not wear sneakers! And I totally hate cropped pants of any sort
ResponderEliminarYo adoro los jeans! besos
ResponderEliminarSkirts, dresses, pants : I like them all! Honestly I don't have that any pants except for jeans, but I have a lot of skirts and dresses. I think variety is important in ones wardrobe.
ResponderEliminarI love when people dress the way they love and feel FREE. Happy weekend dear Sacremento,
ResponderEliminarbesos

I'd been forced to wear skirts (only) for about 20 years of my life. After having had the choice to wear what I want for some years I've gone back to skirts and dresses. But they are way shorter now ;-) I just feel more feminine and sexy because they flatter my body shape better than trousers.
ResponderEliminarI love variety and have some trousers, but wear mostly dresses and skirts. Being free is best! Happy weekend Sacramento. xx
ResponderEliminarOh I love that picture of the man in the skirt. He looks so chic. I saw that picture a while back and started following him on Facebook--he's a stylist. Manuel Spiropoulos.
ResponderEliminari am one who feels much more comfortable in pants, BUT i do love a great skirt as well. you have a wonderful collection of skirts.
ResponderEliminar[oomph.]
I most always wear a dress skirt even when doing mundane chores such as grocery shopping. I have been noticing too in Vancouver women do not wear dresses or skirts....mostly yoga pants!
ResponderEliminarI absolutely agree with you. But the human species is so silly that if everyone dressed wonderfully in skirts and dresses, then pants would be daring and deliciously outlaw again. I suppose this scenario will never happen. It's too bad that the pants I see are often stretch cotton or lycra, not the Katharine Hepburn variety. I love the man skirt.
ResponderEliminarI agree with you in some parts. Althought I'm absolutely fan of skirts and dresses I'm discovering options with trousers. There are kind of models and fabrics that helps you keep your feminility. The answer is try to understand the shape of your body.
ResponderEliminarThat's such a great way to put it - 'a comfortable uniformed prison'. Its so boring to see everyone look the same in their casual fashion. Personally I never wear trousers or dress 'casually', never have and never will. Actually when I was a kid my dad would try to make me wear jeans or a tracksuit to school but had to give up after intense tantrums by me demanding to be allowed to wear a pretty dress haha x
ResponderEliminarVery interesting post!
ResponderEliminarI prefer skirt and dresses, cause I don't really like sport's style:). Kisses x x x
I adore wearing dresses and skirts but I am partial to some good high waisted trousers, I feel more tough wearing pants?! xxx
ResponderEliminarI think of pants as the easy way out and I think dresses/skirts make more of an interesting and feminine silhouette. However I do feel more sexy and fierce when wearing skinny jeans. :)
ResponderEliminarNot a fan of pants, even jeans, as they are too constricting. Dresses are comfortable, but can be expensive in good fabrics, and arent' very versatile. But a great big skirt, on the other hand...
ResponderEliminar"An unfettered pelvic floor is an unfettered mind." - Diana Rigg
Sooo interesting you mention this because I always find myself trying to wear different items than just pants to mix it up and make it more interesting! Those pants are just sooooooooo comfy and warm!!! But skirts are really making a comeback for Fall! I gotta get some better and cooler tights for winter and I'm all set!!! Love you major! kisses and happy SUNDAY!

I'm definitely a skirt fan, I do think that one can spice up an oufit with some very cool pants as well :) you always look amazing in your skirts though! :)

ResponderEliminarUn besote
I love skirts. As liberating as pants are, I prefer skirts. I feel so much more comfortable in them. They make me feel so me.
ResponderEliminarAnyways, I really love all these photos of skirts. Definitely a most that makes you think about feminism.
I dislike how casual and rather sloppy has become today, good fitting pants are always great but i'm a dress girl!
ResponderEliminarThe more options we women have, the better!
ResponderEliminarWe think the most important thing is not to limit oneself, we would rock anything as long as we are comfortable in them, and to us that's fashion. Great post!
ResponderEliminarHave a wonderful week!
xx
5th&6th
ResponderEliminarJeans bore me out of my mind. I find it incredible that sometimes I can be sitting in a room and most people will be wearing a variation of jeans or leggings. BORING!!!!
ResponderEliminarThough I agree skirts are amazing and I am always looking out for things that texturally and proportionally gives me a lot of room to play with..pants aren't prison to me however
ResponderEliminarPersonally, I know I look better in skirts than in pants. I can flatter my proportions better! But I think there is a lot more creative freedom these days with pants that are essentially skirts -- in all their colorful prints, textured fabrics, embellishments --but just bifurcated. I also enjoy the illusion of skirts from pants, like a favorite pair of sheer palazzo pants I had as a teen ager (long gone now but I still think of it fondly).
ResponderEliminarWhat impresses me from the past is how ladies managed to do such interesting things, like riding horses or bicycles, or playing tennis, even in their skirts. Our neighborhood is full of cyclists who look like they are competing in the Tour de France. If I ever ride bikes around town, it will have a basket in front with me behind in a big skirt and pretty hat ... ;) -- J xxx
