How to Turn a Tartan Blanket into a Skirt

I brought Scotland to my Mediterranean beach in an explosion of tartan layering. The skirt is a wool blanket bought by my mother in law from Fort Williams 50 years ago. The tartan #menshirts were my husband's when he was a boy.
When I hold this lamp I can picture my English father in law finding his way in its dim light during the Second World War.
I always remember him as a kind, good man. Quiet and serene till the end.
