Inspiration: The Golden Girls / Las Chicas de Oro

Watching The Golden Girls with my daughters last night, we realised that they still make you laugh, cry and feel at one with the characters after 30 years. Perhaps due to the fact that while the entertainment industry pressured actresses to go to great lengths to maintain or restore their youth, The Golden Girls embraced ageing and all the humour, wisdom, and vulnerability that comes with it.
Viendo Las chicas de oro con mis hijas nos dimos cuenta de que siguen emocionándonos, haciendonos reír y empatizar con los personajes después de 30 años. Quizás debido al hecho de que mientras la industria presionaba a las actrices para mantenerse jóvenes, La chicas de oro aceptaban envejecer con humor, sabiduría y la vulnerabilidad que ésto conlleva.

Four women navigating life after marriage and finding companionship in one another — is feminist in nature. While the women exchange quips and get into fights, the overarching message of the show focuses on the importance of chosen family, and women supporting other women.
Cuatro mujeres navegando por la vida tras el matrimonio y encontrando compañía las unas en las otras- es feminismo del bueno. Se pelean y comparten ocurrencias, pero el mensaje del programa se centra en la importancia de la familia y las mujeres ayudándose entre si.
