Women with Wings

We search for them in woods amongst centenary trees of rough trunks and rich in foliage and fruits, protected and twinned with nature which nourishes them, living close to streams of crystal waters shaded by mountains and waterfalls; dressed in colourful silk: their long hair caressed by the breeze.
These fairies left the idyllic land of tales many years ago. Now, they live in our towns and cities as part of the grey concrete cityscape.
Sometimes when they pass, heads turn to look at them; in some way you can perceive the invisible halo around them. They are strong women with fire in their heart and soul; they feed on clear minds, kind hearts, free spirits and an overpowering passion for life. They know what they are because they feel within the incipient battering of their wings in their childhood and their growth in their puberty.
They are not possessed by fear; although frequently they can feel its warm breath at the back of their necks, but when they look at it in the eye, it shreds and disappears;
they will use their wings not only to fly, but to cuddle, to shelter, to back, to push and to hug.

They spring on fountains of laughter and tears, clinging to the steep stones and the bays of the rivers. Going down to hell and up to heaven again.
Despite the avatars of life they have climbed the highest summits of the heart, the ones covered by a thousand feathers.

  5. Oh, yes.

    I was trying to describe the "look" of Latin women to a young girl the other day. My grandmother and aunts, understated eyes, bright lips, earrings. I remember it as being so lovely.

    Beautiful writing. You have a poet's soul.

  16. Hola
    Beautiful sentiments dear lady, I feel at times my grandmother whom I only knew until the age of 10, but know she would be proud for the fact that I deal with an incurable illness but try and make the best of life. You have a wonderful presence and spirit about you. Have a great weekend, jess xx

  18. Well.... This is a very eloquent post. I am amazed. Wouldn't I love to be able to express myself like that in English!! For me, that is the downside of blogging in English, I cannot express myself as well as in my own language. And here you are, a Spanish girl, writing so poeticly. My compliments dear Sacramento. Lovely photos as well.
