Beautiful Dresses

Charles Frederick Worth was Eugenia de Montijo´s dressmaker, and the first to sign his own work. That´s how brands and the art of Fashion began.
I remember my mother always used to say: `I only like films with beautiful dresses´. Films that made her dream and escape her monotonous everyday life wrapped in tulles and silks.
I always had her passion for beautiful clothes, and I am afraid I have passed it on to my daughters, who I hope will keep it alive in their children.
This is my little homage to my mother, who would have loved to see these pictures, and the process of making a beautiful dress.
                                                          Happy weekend

I just love you for talking about Charles Frederick Worth, he really is the man who got fashion started in the modern sense, with a name that became a brand. I think of him as the father of fashion. His son, Jean-Philippe Worth, also made gorgeous gowns and his son Gaston founded the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. Have a great weekend! XO, Jill

Like your mother, like you and your daughters, I love to look at and wear beautiful dresses. I don't suppose I will ever have anything as fabulous as those featured in your photos though! How lovely to remember your mother, to appreciate what she passed on to you, and recognise what your are passing on to your daughters.

Such gorgeous pieces. It's amazing how clothes can make us fall in love with a film even more. I really loved the wardrobe in Marie Antoinette with Kirsten Dunst, although I didn't care for the music. I could just watch the film on mute haha.

Dear Sacramento, thank you for educating me on something I did not know at all! I searched the Internet for more information on HIM and Her and I am a bit smarter now! :-)
I admire beauty on fiber and made from and with fiber and fabric. I appreciate perfect workmanship - and I experienced on a small scale the satisfaction and joy of achieving it. The creativity and artistry of many designers, contemporary and from long ago, is just unbelievable wonderful and often I look in awe when I am lucky to get a glimpse of it!

Hi Sacremento - thanks for your lovely comments hope you are well sweets :)
- regarding the question- the gadget is labels: you write what you post at the bottom of your post (DIY, editorials, photos, etc) and that is a label. In gadgets you find the label gadget - then *configure labels* where I then use the 'list' and choose what I fancy showing!! Hope that helped answer the question.
Have a great weekend

Martin and I are opening ourselves up to the love of clothes later in life. Neither of us had parents interested in clothes. We grew up with messages about not getting too "fancy." It's fun to play :).
