Spanish women- Slippers & Miu Miu

Things you might not know about Spanish women:
1.-Spanish women don´t change their surnames when they get married.  Like men, they keep their names from birth to grave.
2.-We have two surnames, one from our father and one from our mother.
So I am  Amate ( from my father) and  Martínez ( from my mother).
3.-We get our ears pierced at birth. The midwife does it in most cases.
4- We don´t usually wear hats, just the occasional millinery for weddings.

wait until the sunset dijo...

it's so lovely learning more about you! How interesting about the ear piercing! It's funny as I didn't get mine done till I was about 12, and then they closed a few years later and I never got them done again- now I wear clip-ons!

I'd like to keep my name but it so accepted over here that we just take the husbands name. It's wonderful to take both and be able to trace your family back that way! :)

Stylish Thought dijo...

I love that you keep your last name, very regal and preserves a lady's connection to her family.

That jacket is regal and beautiful, much like Spanish women :)

The Style Crone dijo...

You are beautiful! Loved learning more about Spanish women and honoring both parents with surnames.

Fashion Mom dijo...

ooo you look so sweet!!!! And that haircut is really your thing! you look such a fashion mom ;-)
my mom is spanish and her name is : anna jesus garcia sanchez. And she pierced my ears when I was a baby also haha x

You did an amazing job recreating that outfit. I love the factoids. I knew about the ear piercings, actually. My great grandmother was from Spain, so I learned a lot early on (just unfortunately not the language).

Patti dijo...

Thank you for the facts about Spanish women - I did not know you had your ears pierced at birth! I adore your colorful outfit, so rich and pretty! Thank you for linking up to Visible Monday!

You look gorgeous as always. Love the mix and your DIY footwear.
Vietnamese women too, we keep our surnames after marriage and girls got their ears pierced just a few days after birth.

Have a nice day!

I knew this about Spanish women. I've been married 50 years and do not use my husband's name I had a big thing about women keeping their own names I don't like the tradition here of just tossing it away the way they do.
Your outfit is stunning on you and goes so well with the slippers. Nan

Maybe everybody should do a thing about a few things about women of each country - as for us Quebecers

1- We keep our surname
2- On our birth certificate we still have the name Marie or Joseph remnants of the Catholic church
3- Our children can bear either our surname, our husband name or both
4- The women in Quebec scare men we are too independant
5- She swears a lot even if she does want to admit it in that case she will do it in secret

Nice outfit Mrs P - i love how you are not afraid of mixing everything - You are to an artist...your hair is getting longer? I like it

Love your jacket! Was it one of your thrift store finds? It's fabulous.

I have my own story about earrings and babies. My husband and his family are from Cuba where girls usually have their ears pierced as babies. When my daughter was a baby my Mother-in-law and Sister-in-law both found it very odd that my little girl didn't have her ears pierced. They asked me quite a few times when I was planning on having it done.

On the other hand, in my mother's family it was very shocking for girls to pierce their ears at all. My Mother's family is Italian, and not a single woman in the family had pierced ears.
