Victorian Boho- Part 6

Compré esta falda de inspiración victoriana en Inglaterra; pero como ya sabéis que me gusta customizar, le cambié la delantera, que era toda recta y un poco plana, dejando intacta la cascada de volantes de atrás que me enamora cada vez que la miro.
Me la he puesto con una camisa blanca bajo un top de encaje de ganchillo vintage con broches y bolso de la abuela.
Los botines, una mezcla de Oxford - Victoriano, los he atado con un trozo de tela suave de color azul.

I bought this Victorian style skirt in England, but as you know I love customising what I wear, so I changed the front, that was straight and a bit plain, leaving the beautiful frills at the back untouched.
I am wearing it with a white shirt under a vintage cotton lace top. Vintage brooches, handbag and Victorian- Oxford ankle boots that I have tied up with a blue soft piece of material.

I do love the look of this Victorian lady: flowers and frills everywhere

Nos golpeó la llegada del día, lárgamente ansiado, con una mezcla de incredulidad, nerviosismo y deseo de dar por terminada una larga espera.
Los vestidos, trajes, zapatos y aderezos saltaron de sus cajas gozosos, ardiendo en deseos de lucirse.
Mantuvimos la casa como un remanso de paz durante todo el día. Mientras, en la peluquería los secadores gritaban a ritmo de reguetón entre pinturas y brochas de maquillaje.
La ceremonia fue entrañable y las lágrimas inevitables.
Celebramos hasta el amanecer a la sombra de palmeras y jazmines en flor; abanicados por la suave brisa de una cascada y la actuación magistral de Anhela.
Hubo photocall y baño en la fuente como el gran evento requería.


The long awaited day struck us with a mixture of nervousness and incredulity.
The dresses, suits, shoes and adorments jumped out of their boxes happy to be worn at last.
We kept the house as an oasis of peace and tranquility, while in the hairdresser´s a cloud of noise built up around us: tireless hair dryers, incesant chatter, beat background music...
The ceremony was warm and the tears unavoidable.
We partied until dawn, sheltered from the evening heat by palm trees, jazmin blossoms, water falls and the magnificent show of Anhela.
There was Photocall and the youngest ended up in the fountain as the event required.

Butterflies in the stomach

Desafiando al intenso calor y los nervios de última hora mariposeando por el estómago, pasamos el tiempo, que parece infinito, recordándonos unos a otros que ésta en una reunión de familia y amigos muy queridos y sobre todo una celebración de amor. Entonces nos calmamos y jugamos: con el agua del patio, pintándonos las uñas de colores, riéndonos de las pequeñas cosas de la vida.

Defying the extreme heat and the butterflies in our stomach, we spend the time, that seems to go on forever, reminding each other that this is a family and very close friend reunion, and above all a love celebration. Then we calm ourselves down and play: with the garden hose in the patio, changing the colour of our nail polish, laughing about the little everyday life things.

Have a break for a kneecap

Me tomo un descanso, entre faldas, para contaros que ayer descubrí que en lugar de tendinitis, como pensaba mi no muy buen médico, había estado andando por la vida con el menisco roto y que hay que operar....
Hoy mientras esperaba a que me hicieran una resonancia ví estas fotos sobre la mesilla de la sala de espera. Mi mente no me llevó al quirófano, sino que se enganchó en el naranja y me transportó directamente al atuendo que llevaba un día en mi último viaje a Nueva York hace unos años.
El cerebro es una maravillosa máquina de positividad si lo dejamos...No crees?

I am taking a break from skirts to share with you that rather than swollen tendons in my knee, I have a broken meniscus that needs an operation.
Today, while I was waiting to have a MRI, I saw this picture on a magazine, and instead of taking me to the surgery theatre, my mind clinged on to the orange colour and took me straight back to what I was wearing on my last trip to New York a few years ago.
The brain works in a wonderful way, if we let it...Don´t you think?

Blue flowers- Part 3

La falda azul tiene diminutos cascabeles al filo de los volantes y es tan ligera que parece que pudieras echar a volar mientras caminas. La compré en South Carolina- USA y me encantó en el mismo instante en que me la probé por primera vez; aunque la auténtica protagonista del conjunto es esta sencilla blusa a la que le han brotado flores azules inspiradas por la falda de Muchacha que ví en Japanese Streets.
The blue skirt has tiny bells all round the edge of the frills. And it is so light that it makes me feel like flying when I walk. I bought it in South Carolina- USA- and I fell in love with it as soon as I tried it on for the first time; although the real star of this outfit is this rather plain blouse, now covered in blue flowers inspired by the Muchacha skirt in Japanese Streets.

Estos pendientes parecían salir de entre las ramas para completar el conjunto.
This earrings seemed to have sprung from the branches to complete the outfit.
Me puse manos a la obra y fuí recortando y cosiendo flores azules.
